Discovering Health Care Expo allows students to explore career pathways

Health-Care-Expo

Hundreds of middle and high school students attended the Alliance’s annual Discovering Health Care Expo at Carroll University.

Waukesha County students participated in various hands-on, interactive activities like learning how to use physical therapy tests, blood testing equipment, following proper procedures to dress like a surgeon, and more.

The health care industry continues to face a drastic workforce shortage. And unfortunately, the demand for health care professionals will only increase as the baby boomer population ages. According to the Waukesha-Ozaukee-Washington WOW Workforce Development Center, health care sectors in just those three counties will face an average employment increase of 16.2% by the year 2022, or an additional 13,000 workers.

The Discovering Health Care Expo is an opportunity to engage middle and high school students considering a career in healthcare and show them the multitude of career paths available in the industry.
