Wisc.-based Denali Ingredients® is a leading supplier of chocolate coatings, fudge and caramel sauces, fruit variegates, powders, stabilizers, extruded products, flakes and other ingredients for the ice cream, dairy, bakery and food service industries. Denali Ingredients is a sister company to Mich.-based Denali Flavors®, Inc., one of the leading inventors and marketers of specialty flavors for the ice cream industry, including its signature flavor, Moose Tracks®. In 2006, Denali Flavors purchased the former Cool Brands and Eskimo Pie ingredients manufacturing facility in New Berlin, WI and renamed it Denali Ingredients. Today, Denali Ingredients employs 70 skilled employees and produces over 45 million pounds of ice cream and dairy ingredients out of its two facilities that encompass 110,000 square feet of production, warehousing, R&D lab, pilot plant and office space.
In 2008, Denali Ingredients improved its powder blending capabilities with a substantial investment in its blending facility, warehouse and state-of-the-art pilot lab. At this time, a dedicated group of accomplished stabilizer and texture systems specialist where hired to grow this highly technical line of products. Today, Denali Ingredients offers stabilizer and texture solutions for ice cream, novelties, cottage cheese, sour cream, egg nog, yogurt and more.
In 2010, Denali Ingredients added a second manufacturing facility located at 3100 South 166 Street in New Berlin, WI. This 30,000 square foot facility is referred to as “Plant 2” by the Denali Team. Extruded products such as cookie dough and brownie bits, as well as flavored flakes and chunks are made at Plant 2.
Denali Ingredients is so dedicated to research development, it is planning to triple its R&D facility at 2400 South Calhoun Road to 4,000 square feet this year. “We like to be the ‘go to’ company for our customers to do research and development for unique concepts and flavors,” said Neal Glaeser, president of Denali Ingredients. R&D is more important than ever, in a time when the ice cream and dairy industry is challenged to meet the ever changing consumer’s needs, he said. In addition to more R&D space, this facility expansion will also include doubling the size of the cooler and hot processing production area, as well as 4,000 additional square foot of office space.
